Montreal’s Ann-Sophie Bettez a shooting star in January 2014

For the second straight month, the Montreal Stars sit atop the CWHL standings – and one of their top players is being recognized for their impressive on-ice efforts. Forward Ann-Sophie Bettez of Lévis, Que., has been named the Gongshow Gear CWHL Player of the Month for January 2014.
After finishing second in league scoring last season and winning the 2013 CWHL Rookie of the Year Award, fans were excited to watch Bettez build off that success this season, while superstar teammates such as Meghan Agosta-Marciano, Caroline Ouellette and Catherine Ward have been absent from the league due to Olympic centralization. Bettez certainly hasn’t disappointed – she helped lead the Stars to a 6-0 record in January and is proving Montreal’s incredible talent and skill runs deep indeed.
During her team’s January winning streak, Bettez had 15 points (nine goals, six assists) with four game-winning goals and a +10 rating. Among her highlights, Bettez had back-to-back four point nights, the second of which included her second career hat-trick as part of a 7-4 victory over defending Clarkson Cup champions the Boston Blades. Bettez current leads the league in scoring with 30 points total, including 14 goals and 16 assists.
With at least a point in each of Montreal’s 16 games and riding a seven-game goal scoring streak, Ann-Sophie Bettez is red hot. Perhaps the only thing more impressive than the way she’s playing now is the fact that she only seems to be getting better.
