The Kerrzy Report: Crazy times in the CHL

We’ve all seen what a Gongshow the first round of the NHL playoffs has been, but there is some crazy stuff happening in the ranks of the CHL these days as well!
First off, let’s give a shout out to the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings. Not only have they won every game they’ve played so far in this year’s playoffs, but they’re also the only unbeaten playoff team left in the entire Canadian Hockey League!
If you think 11-0 is impressive, I’ve got another one for you – the Oil Kings are now riding a 22-game win streak into game four against the Moose Jaw Warriors, with their last loss coming over two months ago. Not bad, eh?
Not to be outdone, the OHL’s East Final has had a couple of noteworthy moments so far as well.
Ottawa 67’s captain Marc Zanetti got the series off to an interesting start when he was suspended indefinitely for a kick to the head of Niagara IceDogs winger Tom Kuhnhackl in the opening game. On Tuesday, the league decided the overage blue liner was done for the playoffs.
On a much lighter note, IceDogs goalie Mark Visentin made headlines in game three when he sniped from behind his own net in a 5-2 win. Not only did he score the empty net goal, but it will also go down as a shorthanded marker, which is even sweeter!

There are very few things you just do not do in hockey and kicking is one of them!
As someone who was sitting directly beside the cameraman who shot the clip of Zaneti’s kick, we didn’t even know he kicked Kuhnhackl, the Jack was going nuts with excitement from the goal, but i am happy the game was on Sportsnet to catch him do it

Not going to defend the Actions of M.A. But I will say this (why am I always defending Jr. Players), whether or not you think what he did was classless. The man is nothing but class. Iv had opportunities to chat with him over the past 2.5 seasons and he’s a good guy. He had a brain cramp. Very few players will approach me to say hi and shoot the breeze. Zanetti is one of them. He admits he ended off his 5 year career on the worst note possible. 2 suspensions in 30 days. But he takes responsibility in what he did was completely wrong and out of character.
I always love to see a tendy get a goal.
