The Kerrzy Report: Goals of the Week!
Blog — By Kerrzy on December 23, 2011 9:03 AM
We’re through another week of action in the NHL and I’ve got to say, this may have been the toughest one so far when it comes to whittling my list of potential Goals of the Week down to a top five!
Cracking the list this time around is a beautiful spinning backhander, some slick breakaway moves, a bit of between the legs magic, a clutch play from a young forward and a one-man show at the United Center!
Let’s go!
5. Tyler Bozak
Toronto’s Tyler Bozak checks in at number five this week, corralling some knee-high sauce from Phil Kessel and hitting the top shelf with a spinning backhander over the shoulder of Roberto Luongo. Beauty!
4. Patrice Bergeron
The Ottawa Senators were quite charitable in their own end this past week, and one of the beneficiaries of that fine humanitarian work was Boston forward Patrice Bergeron – check out the moves on this breakaway!
3. Kris Versteeg
The Sens weren’t the only team feeling generous inside their own blue line this week – New Jersey’s Adam Larsson gave Florida’s Stephen Weiss an absolute gift last Tuesday…He didn’t want it though, so he re-gifted it to Kris Versteeg, who went between the legs for the opening goal of the game:
2. Jordan Eberle
After a solid start, the Edmonton Oilers have fallen on some tough times lately, and that continued with a loss to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. One bright spot this season though, win or lose, has been the play of the young guys. Don’t believe me? Check out this dangle by Jordan Eberle!
1. Patrick Sharp
There were a lot of unreal goals scored last week in the NHL, but for my money, none were better than this beauty from Chicago’s Patrick Sharp. He picks up the puck near the Anaheim blue line and barrels right through a crowd of four Ducks players, before going bar-and-in on Jonas Hiller. Spectacular stuff!
What the Puck?
The WTP honors this week go to Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward, who made an unbelievable save in a game against the Vancouver Canucks. I bet Keith Ballard is still dreaming about the one that got away:
You know he was already thinking about a celly before that one even left his stick!

Bozaks was unreal because of the way he got the puck, the goal was kind of lucky but they all count!

love the kerrzy reports
When they showed Wardo’s save during the intermission reports from around the league on one of the other games I was watching, I nearly spewed the swig of brew I just took. I know we see some ridiculous goalie saves each year, and this is certainly no different. Though even though I know I’ll see some, I still fall out of my chair. I did a little Ronny Textall’in to my buds seeing if they saw the save too.
dirty
nice save
Man I wish the Flyers still had Sharp. Chalk that up as another trade they shouldn’t have made. Cam’s save was just filthy..especially with 6 minutes left in the 3rd with a one goal lead! Quite possibly the save of the year!
